Our Doctrine

As Presbyterians, we trace our historic roots back to the 16th century Protestant Reformation, and beyond that to the infallible authority of the Bible. The biblical doctrines to which we hold are explained in detail in the Westminster Confession of Faith and what are called the Larger and Shorter Catechisms. What follows is a summary of our beliefs:

The Bible
The Bible, God’s Word,  tells the truth. (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God. The Bible, therefore, is the only infallible rule for faith and life (doctrine and behavior) and it reveals the righteousness of God for the salvation of all who believe. Moreover, we confess that the Bible’s truths are revealed and applied to the lives of God’s elect by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God
There is only one true and living God, existing in three Persons (I Corinthians 8:6; Matthew 28:18-20)

We believe there is one true God, infinite, holy, wise and just, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
